Garden Guardians is The Arc Northwest Mississippi’s gardening and nature program designed to help individuals with disabilities grow their confidence, independence, and connection to the natural world. Through hands-on, accessible experiences, participants learn how to grow and care for plants from seed to harvest while developing valuable skills in teamwork, leadership, responsibility, and self-advocacy.

The program combines gardening with sensory activities, science, arts and crafts, nature exploration, and interactive lessons that are adapted to meet participants of all abilities. Whether they are planting seeds, caring for garden beds, learning about pollinators, harvesting fresh produce, or creating something to take home, participants are encouraged to learn by doing and take pride in what they accomplish.

At the heart of Garden Guardians is the belief that everyone deserves the opportunity to get outside, get their hands in the soil, and experience the rewards of growing something of their own. Our community garden also serves as a place of connection and respite, with harvested produce shared back with the community and the participants who helped grow it.
